• The current standing legislation stipulates that “learning candidates” should be at least 16 years old and have successfully completed the high school.
  • Holding of a medical certificate class 2.
  • To obtain the license, the expected normal time is between 12 and 18 months.
  • The theoretical part usually takes from 6 to 12 months.
    • It depends on the availability/attendance/exam results of the students.
  • The practical component usually takes from 6 to 12 months
    • It depends on daily weather conditions.
    • It depends on the availability/attendance/practical learning ability/practical exam results of the student.
    • The practical and theoretical component can be complementary, that is, if the student successfully completes half of the theoretical tests at ANAC, the practical part can start before the theoretical part is completely concluded.
  • Flying is simpler than it seems.
  • In any case, if you want to find out if you are cut out to do it, we recommend you take an Initiation Flight with us, before you enrol in a flying course.
  • The main difference between ultralight aviation and the Private Plane Pilot (Piloto Privado de Avião – PPL(A)) is that the first (PU) does not allow for a professional career, its main purpose being leisure and is limited to these specific ultra-light aircrafts.
  • Ultralight Aviation is little bit easier to learn, and the planes are of simpler operation. Financially, this course is also less expensive than a PPL(A) course.
  • The Private Pilot License (PPL(A)) allows the pilot to fly in all airspace and encompasses the possibility of a professional career progression. Thus, this course is recommended for those who wish to flight without restrictions or to follow an aeronautical career.
  • Our ANAC authorised flying school, founded in 2000, is considered one of the best schools in the country and is licensed to educate pilots “ad initio”, allowing students, if they choose so, to take up a professional piloting career.
  • The PPL(A) course consists of 177 hours of theoretical instruction and 45 hours of flight instruction, of which 10 hours are of solo flight.
  • The issuance of the PPL(A) License takes place after the student has been successfully approved on the following tests:
    • a – Theory exams (written) to take place in Lisbon, under the responsibility of ANAC;
    • b – Practical exam that assesses the flight proficiency, to take place in our school (ACC)
  • The theoretical instruction will include the following subjects:

  • Theoretical lessons take place at ACC, delivered by licensed and highly experienced instructors.
  • Classes take place weekly in the evenings on Fridays and throughout the day on Saturdays.
THEORETICAL LESSONS START END
FRIDAY Evening 20h30 23h50
SATURDAY Morning 10h00 13h00
Afternoon 14h00 17h00
  • Practical flight training also takes place at the ACC, typically between Tuesday and Saturday, with specific times to be agreed upon between the student and the instructor.
  • In the B-learning model, the course is delivered remotely through a dedicated platform, with mandatory sessions consolidated into nine class days - one per subject - held on Saturdays. This nine-day cycle is repeated twice, allowing students who are unable to attend an initial session, or who wish to revisit it, an additional opportunity to do so, as well as providing further time for clarification of questions.

To enrol in the course, the following documents are required:

  • Citizen card / passport
  • Medical certificate
  • Academic qualifications certificate
  • Criminal record certificate
  • Digital passport-style photograph
  • In order to attend the course, students must become members of ACC, have at least one semester of membership fees paid, and complete the enrollment fee;
  • After that, there is a first Tranche that is paid before the theoretical component of the Course starts;
  • Finally, there is a monthly fee, which is repeated 12 times, as shown in the tables below:
